Meet The Baltimore Orioles Future Backstop!

by Harry Cummins

At the expense of minimizing the legion of local supporters who follow Oregon State Beaver baseball as a collective unit, I am only interested in the journey of a singular Beaver this season. Gladly put your hands together for Adley!!

Barring any shocking developments, OSU catcher Adley Rutschman will make headlines this June as the Number 1 pick of the Baltimore Orioles in the 2019 MLB Draft.

To that end, Craw's Corner will periodically post the season stats of Mr. Rutschman to whet the appetite of Birdland faithful still smarting from the loss of Manny Machado.

When you have the No 1 pick in all the land, it becomes imperative that you select a franchise building block. The Orioles desperately need one!  Their best bet at present is OF Yusniel Diaz, who was the centerpiece of the Machado trade to the Dodgers.

After 11 Oregon State games this season (10-1 for all of you who live and die with TEAM stats) here are the numbers for Rutschman, this season's transcendent collegiate talent:

.343/ 5 HR's/12 RBI's
