Wow, it is time or keeping in the hoops lingo, overtime to stop this so called tradition in basketball, especially college and high school.
Pretty simple, no more handshake lines after the game, shake hands before the game, period.
Players don’t like it and every coach I have talked with and admits, hates this practice.
Oh yes, for you sportsmanship purists, if you think this practice is good, then play all games with zero crowds, so then no yelling at players and officials.
Incidents of horrible behavior or downright fighting happen every season in the post game handshake lines.
This is as easy a fix as it gets, eliminate this goofy procedure that 90 percent don’t like and if you were coaching or playing would not like as well.
I couldn't agree more. It is painful to watch the players and the coaches go through this ritual. It is appropriate for kids, but give them (and us) a break at high school and college games. I wonder what Bill Walton would have to say about this ritual - something, for sure!
