The 'Rutschman Watch' continues.
After yesterday's 4 for 5, 2 HR, 4 RBI performance in a 9-7 loss to UCLA, Adley Rutschman of the Oregon State Beavers has moved into the Top 10 in NCAA D-1 baseball statistics in both batting average and home runs.
After 18 games, Rutschman is hitting a lofty .456 with 8 long balls and 23 RBl's. The Beavers are 14-3-1 on the season after dropping two of three to the Bruins this weekend.
Next up for Oregon State is a three game set with California (9-8) beginning Friday night in Corvallis. It represents a rare showdown between the top 2 projected draft picks in next June's MLB Draft. The Cal Bears feature consensus All-American Andrew Vaughn, the 2018 winner of the Golden Spike Award presented to the best amateur baseball player in the country.
Vaughn hit .402 last year with 23 home runs, the second most HR's in the country. He already has hit 7 this year, one behind Rutschman.
